Apology from Google after Android phone users complaint about the battery saver setting was activated remotely without their permission.
The battery saver affects how often apps update and work in the background.
Google told on Reddit that it was mistakenly rolled out as they were trying to conduct test. The devices which are affected by this fault are the Android phone using the Android Pie operating system.
The battery saver option preserves the power by delaying notifications and stopping the location service when the mobile is not in use.
Google says on Reddit, “This was an internal experiment to test battery-saving features that was mistakenly rolled out to more users than intended,”
“We have now rolled battery saver settings back to default. Please configure to your liking. Sorry for the confusion.”
The users have comment on Reddit about this change like Google updated it No download, no warning, no reboot, nothing etc.
Kate Bevan (Technology commentator), said her phone was affected.
“I noticed the other day that suddenly my battery saver was on and I was a bit puzzled by it,” she said.
“I don’t want any app or operating system reversing decisions I’ve made – unless I know why they are doing it.
“It’s about transparency and consent – it may well be a good idea that a change is being made but I still want to know why.”
